Study Permit:
Enables individuals to enroll in academic programs and pursue educational goals. Allows employment opportunities as outlined in the permit conditions. Ensure adherence to PGWP (Post-Graduation Work Permit) criteria:
The educational institution must be a DLI (Designated Learning Institution).
- Maintain continuous full-time enrollment without gaps; any interruptions require valid justification supported by evidence.
- Be aware of immigration rules relating to PGWP duration, which depends on the length of the program completed.
- Programs exceeding 8 months qualify for PGWP; the length of the work permit corresponds to the program duration (e.g., one year for 8-month programs, up to three years for two-year programs).
- Eligibility to bring a partner under an open work permit.
- Keep the study permit active and valid throughout the course of study.
- Potential pathway to Permanent Residency (PR) if all conditions are fulfilled.
Requirements for Sri Lanka and Overseas Applicants:
- Complete the Academic IELTS with a minimum overall score of 6.5, and no individual band score below 6.
- Provide evidence of continuous study or valid reasons for any gaps in education.
- Submit employment verification letters and recent pay stubs for work experience.
- Demonstrate sufficient funds to cover tuition fees and living expenses for both the student and accompanying family members, supported by at least 6 months’ bank statements.
- Present proof of assets, business interests, employment history, or family ties indicating intent to return home after studies.
- Submit a detailed Statement of Purpose (SOP) explaining your study plans, supported by all relevant documentation.
- Include all academic transcripts available.
Note: the maximum age limit for a study permit application is 33 years.
Requirements within Canada:
- Achieve an Academic IELTS score of at least 6.5 overall, with no less than 6 in any module.
- Show proof of sufficient funds for tuition and living expenses during your stay.
- Provide employment letters and recent pay stubs for relevant work experience.
- Submit a comprehensive SOP outlining your study goals and reasons for choosing the program.
- Demonstrate ties to your home country through property ownership, business involvement, employment history, or family connections, indicating your intent to return after completing your studies.
- Furnish all academic transcripts available.
