Super Visa

Under the Parent & Grandparent Super Visas program, qualifying parents and grandparents can apply to visit their family in Canada for a duration of up to two years without the requirement of renewing their status. Citizenship and Immigration Canada (“CIC”) may grant eligible applicants a multiple-entry visa, valid for up to 10 years, to facilitate their travel between Canada and their home country.

To be eligible, the applicant must fulfill the following conditions:

• Be the parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada.
• Demonstrate admissibility to Canada.
• Obtain a written commitment of financial support from their child or grandchild in Canada who meets a specific economic threshold.
• Provide evidence of purchasing Canadian medical insurance coverage for at least one year.
• Undergo an immigration medical examination.

Visa officers assess multiple factors before determining an individual’s admissibility. The individual must demonstrate genuine intent to visit Canada and depart voluntarily after their stay. Considerations may include:

The applicant’s connections to their country of origin.

A well-described purpose of the visit is supported by evidence.

The applicant’s familial and financial circumstances.

The general economic and political stability of the home country.

An invitation from a host in Canada.

It’s essential to understand that the super visa remains a temporary application: If your goal is to have your parent or grandparent reside in Canada permanently, you’ll need to submit a parental sponsorship application.
