Student Visa
Study Permit:
- Allows individuals to pursue studies.
- Permits employment as specified in the study permit.
- Ensure compliance with PGWP (Post-Graduation Work Permit) prerequisites:
- The institution must be a DLI (Designated Learning Institute).
- Continuous full-time enrollment without gaps; any gaps require valid justification with evidence.
- Familiarity with immigration regulations regarding PGWP duration based on program completion.
- Program duration must exceed 8 months for PGWP eligibility, with durations correlating to PGWP length (e.g., one year for 8-month programs, three years for 2-year programs).
- Eligible for bringing a partner under an open work permit.
- Maintain active study permit status, ensuring no lapses in the validity of study permit.
- May qualify for Permanent Residency (PR) if all requirements are met.
Requirements for Sri Lanka and Overseas:
- Ensure completion of the Academic IELTS, achieving a minimum overall band score of 6.5, with no less than 6 for any module.
- Verify the absence of study gaps; if any exist, provide valid reasons with supporting evidence.
- Provide employment letters and pay stubs for any work experience.
- Demonstrate sufficient funds for both studies and family support while in Canada or during the study period (Minimum 6 months’ bank balance). Provide compelling evidence of fund accumulation.
- Present evidence of properties, business involvement, work history, or family ties indicating intent to return to the home country after completing studies.
- Submit a comprehensive Statement of Purpose (SOP) outlining study intentions, supported by the aforementioned details.
- Furnish all available academic transcripts.
- Note that the age limit for obtaining a study permit is 33.
