Visitor Visa
Visitor visas are required for certain foreign nationals who wish to visit or travel through Canada. Depending on your citizenship, you may or may not require a temporary resident visa. If you do not need a visa to travel to Canada, a determination as to whether you will be allowed into Canada will be made upon your arrival to Canada at any port of entry (either at a land border or at the airport).
Eligibility Criteria Foreign nationals who are in need of visas must initially apply to a Canadian visa office located abroad prior to their travel to Canada. Applications must fulfill the following criteria:
- Possess a valid travel document – Passport
- Be in good health; a medical assessment may be required.
- Convince a visa officer of your ties to your home country, such as employment, assets/property, and familial and social connections, to ensure your return.
- Assure a visa officer of your intention to leave Canada at the end of your visit.
- Have adequate funds for your stay; the required amount can vary based on the nature of your visit, its duration, and whether you’ll be lodging in a hotel or with acquaintances.
- You may also require a letter of invitation from a Canadian resident, though it’s not mandatory for tourist visits.
Visitor Visa
Upon approval of your application, the visa office will issue either a multiple-entry or single-entry visa. You can then utilize this visa to travel to and enter Canada.
